I thought this would turn out to be a great podcast. A great WEEKLY podcast. But, obviously, you and the producers of this podcast don't care enough to actually live up to the promise of WEEKLY. I wish I could keeping being a listener and support you, but I just can't. Your podcast is unreliable, and apparently degrates in the funny-factor every new episode(which I didn't want to admit at first).

The first time I saw Hope I allmost fell in love whith her face. :-)
And all I wanted was to hold her, comfort her and smile when I saw her cry. She thinks allmost like a child. Can words die? Something to think about....
I allso think a lot about strange things. But not really the same way she thinks. I think she's taking it a bit tooo seriousley. (don't say I said so) :-P
So I think Hope is a very cute, smart, thoughtful and kind girl.

this is the most amazing thing i've seen in a LOOOOOONG time! it's so hilarious! i've been watching them over and over again periodically throughout my day and i can't stop laughing at it.
for those people who take it as a serious video, calm down!!!!!! seriously, the whole thing is a joke. a mini comedy skit posted online as a blog, as many emo kids post blogs about their lives and feelings and their blogs are usually where they let their emo-ness fly.
my own sister is kind of emo (depressed). she doesn't wear all the band t-shirts and stuff, but she listens to all the music, she has half of a shaved head, died different colors, and i showed this to her, and she laughed.
for those people who think emo people can't take a joke every now and then, that's just kinda sad to me. one thing every person should be able to do if they fit into some sort of category such as prep or emo or punk or screamo or goth or asian or hispanic or whatever- is be open to laughing at yourself. sometimes it's just so funny to see the things you take so seriously and have them put in a different perspective and you realize how minute some of your problems are.
anyways, yeah, enough of me being serious.

I can't believe people still use the term "emo." It's like one of those words we stopped using because it became immature, like "doodoohead." I believe most people stopped using that word after second grade. And, as for the word "emo," I think most people stopped using that word after freshman year. And, if they didn't, it's because they are dumb. They recently learned the word through vacuous programming on TV because they are passive TV watchers, instead of active. They haven't taken the time in their busy TV watching lives to deconstruct the images being thrown at them. It makes me want to cry. In fact, I am crying right now. Anyway, I prefer to call people like you "sappy." I mean, last week, I had a window in my French class fall out and almost hit me. It landed right where my best friend usually sits, but luckily she was out that day. I cried about it. But, I don't call myself emo. I'm just sappy. Every morning I wake up, smoke a cigarette, and contemplate how long I'm going to live. I'm just... sappy.

Emo is very much a current word and indeed a cultural phenomenon. The current usage owes little to the previous things that you might have meant when you used it at school or whatever, presumably as an insult.
You do correctly (albeit unclearly) refer to the fact that it has become an MTV catch-phrase of sorts, but that's only part of it. It is very much an active thing, and more people are using it than ever. If you don't believe me, check these out:

As well as the wikipedia entry. Whilst Emo as a music scene appears to have been around for quite a while, it has only really reached public attention on a huge scale (thanks, perhaps, to MTV as you state) recently with faux-emo bands like My Chemical Romance gaining public acclaim. Hence, it is now ripe for mickey-taking on a huge scale (i.e. this site and the b3ta link above).
You don't call yourself emo... good for you. I don't call myself a goth. I don't tell other people they can't call themselves that if they want to.
Unless your post is ironic, in which case it was too subtle for me. It sure as f**k ain't poetry ;)

P.S. it is, of course, merely semantics, but "sappy", gives the impression of someone who hugs trees, likes flowers, sighs a lot, has no neck muscles as their head swings from side to side, downcast, and wears flower t-shirts, listening to shoegazer music like Lush. Emo is more angry and angsty than that.
What you are reffering to as "sappy" is not at all what sappy is. You, my friend, have posted up the defenition of treehuggers, hippies, and the like.
Sappy is to be excessively sentimental. It's also been know for sappy to describe someone as silly or foolish. Both of these are still slang defenitions, but defenitions nonetheless.
You can still be sappy without liking nature or wearing flower T-Shirts. Actually, being emo is one of the most sentimental things you can be, seeing as how your decisions are based on your emotions, thus the term emo.

Hope, your videos have brought new meaning to my pathetic, lonely life. I used to sit in my room and think of ways people are suffering in this word. I used to think as I thought of all these terrible ways they were suffering that very moment. It makes me want to cry. But you have showed me how beautiful it can be too. I just watched your movies for the 13th time. I have been wondering something since the 7th viewing. Did you start crying about the chalk eraser while in class with CM. Because I think I know why he stopped borrowing it. I wouldnt want to share a calculator with a cry baby either.

Gregor seemed like a nice gal, i think i knew her when she was a baby, and she was cute like a baby. But these other babies here, they just attack everything that gets near them and cover it with a thin layer of saliva...people suck. ::throws baby out the window and looks for a better one::
CM, as in Calculator...Match. I think CM is just in denial, trying to figure out how to express his love without his extreme L33T skills that he most definately lacks. Without those, he cant think he can get any Hope at all.
